You might think I’m just
A fourteen-year-old girl
With blonde hair
and green eyes
But I know I am more
way more than that
not a tornado or hurricane
not a rose or a flower
I’m an ocean wave
A low tide ocean wave
when I’m feeling blue
or in my mood
When I go walking in the rain listening to tear jerkers on my iPhone
I’m an ocean wave stagnant
not flowing
surfers fretting
wanting to catch waves
When the tide rises
my ocean wave is rolling in
The California surfers are ecstatic
and smile with boards in hand
I become a high rolling ocean wave
with energy and friction
amazing all with my motion in the ocean
I roll in full force
but ripple and twist
I’m a continuous motion
until I run out of steam
and that’s where my wave calms
the ocean generates waves over again
and again
and again
